Youth Programs

Preventing juvenile delinquency is a major challenge facing many communities today. The Gift of Love’, Teen Development Center serves all youth between the ages of 5 and 19. The majority of these children live in underserved areas, such as rural or inner city locations. Approximately 90 percent come from households earning annual incomes below $25,000, and only 30 percent of their parents have high school diplomas.

Project Activities

The Teen Development and Outreach Center has institutionalized several projects to effectively address the issues facing these teens today, and assist them in improving their quality of life:

  • Youth mentoring
  • Back to Basis
  • Rites of passage
  • Post-prison mentoring
  • Parent empowerment programs
  • Child development centers
  • Pre-teen preparatory programs
  • School age child care
  • Summer camp programs

Through these programs, the Centers focus on mitigating the risk factors that foster delinquency.
